I was extremely fortunate to get up to fish for the second time in the last two weeks today! This rarely happens these days so I was pumped emoThumbsup ! I covered shallow water for the first hour and a half, fishing corners, ditches, grass, really everything but came up with nothing to show for it. Started in HBSP and worked to CF Park, throwing Kietechs, swim jigs, walking baits, etc. and couldn't even bump one on the head. Very little fish activity, despite cloud cover and pre-frontal conditions. Kind of bizarre. By 8:30 I was out on the ledges again and really covered some water out there today. Hit ledges from HBSP to Sale Creek with shakey heads, football jigs, drop shots, and even threw a scrounger for a little while. Though the bait was present, I marked a lot less than last week out on the ledges. The wind really kicked up and made holding ledges challenging for good bit of the day. Finding fish was easy (21-25 ft was most consistent) putting them in the boat was not... Not sure if the fish were in a funky mood or if the dog days of summer were in full effect, but bites were tough overall today. Literally had 12 bites between us over 10 hours and most bites were soft. The good news though, is that the ones that hooked up were good fish. Didn't bust out the scales, but our best 5 would have gone 22-23lbs if I was guestimating. Overall it was nice day and enjoyed getting a return trip a week apart from my last one. Even when the bite slows, I enjoy coming up. The overall quality of fish here is just awesome.
