hey guys went to the hiwassee around the 75 bridge lucked up on a few bass but noticed alot of fish jumping around the top close to the shore i figured they was chaseing bait fish guys what tips could u give me about fishing around bait fish and what kinda lure u would use thks for any tips or helpful hints like i said just started doing some fishing when i have time off and have no clue what im doing

Really just a second to that. Use something white, I tried a white grub on a lead head the other day and caught two great bass in two casts that were chasing baitfish, or "in the jumps"

White chatterbait, inline spinner bait, rooster tails. My all time favorite the little joe !

What they said. If they are right on top I like to use a big Mepps with a white tail on it, silver spinner. But you can just about catch them on anything you throw if you get it close enough to them when they "boil". If I am on a shallow flat with deeper water near, I like to use a shallow crank in Tennessee Shad color, Bomber being my favorite. Lots of times I find the bigger fish are actually UNDER the smaller schoolers and the crank gets down to them.

When trying to imitate the baitfish that the schooling fish are feeding upon the term commonly used is "matching the hatch". The other guys gave you some good info about matching the color or flash of your lures to the baitfsih. Sometimes though just matching the color of the baitfish won't work. In some cases you must also match the size of the baitfish.

FF .. sounds to me like a good spot of a Bandit 300 in TennesseeShad. GOSH I love that lure. Tr19 made me two, one with my name on it I refuse to fish with and one without. I have yet to try it out.

Maybe I can bring it to the picnic and you can give it work out??? I've love to know how it does.

TT that color has always been a good one for me and if TR19 made the ones you have I'll assure you they'll catch fish!

If you like to use Zoom baits I have found the Zoom SUPER Smokin Shad with a 3/0 worm shank hook works great. It imatates a wounded shad and has a few sparkle flakes that the fish can see. I do agree with the others that when fish get in a feeding frenzy anything works (except the kitchen sink). LOL
