Was paired up with fisherpal2k's buddy Tom Helton from Cleveland. Thank goodness he has a big ole Ranger. Made the ride on those 3-4 foot rollers tolerable. We started fishing just South of Comer Bridge with lipless crankbaits. Tom was throwing the Excalibur Royal Red Rattlin Shad, I started throwing the Royal Shad color. He hooks up with a 2.5 keeper within 10 minutes, then no further action for the next 30 minutes. I'm thinking about the conditions we're fishing in: grey, overcast skies, water clarity less than 2 feet., hmmmm... time to tie on the Yo Zuri Rattlin Shad in my favorite color. 3 casts later, I get slammed. This fish is a good one. Really good. I'm fighting her for 15 seconds when I feel the fish come unbuttoned. I'd set my drag too tight and she straightened the hook. Extremely disapponted, I ask Tom to turn his motor over so I can inhale the exhaust till death. He reminds me that his weight won't count unless I sign his weigh-in slip. I continue to fish. Within 10 minutes, I connect with another one. I get this one to the boat however. Not as big as the one I'd lost but a good 5 lber. Connect with a 2 lber shortly thereafter. We run to Jones Creek but 1/3 of the field seems to be in there so we make the kidney bruising run to South Sauty. We fish cranks, jerkbaits, blades, chatterbaits, traps and jigs for the next few hours with only another 2.5 lb fish caught on Tom's jerkbait. We run to the mouth of South Sauty where I catch another 2 lber on the Yo Zuri. 9 hours of fishing and only 5 bites. But they're all keepers. Tom weighs in a bit over 5 lbs and I've got a 9 lb sack. Good for 30th Place and $145 but more importantly, valuable points with my best lakes yet to come. A very big thanks to Tom Helton. A heckuva good guy to fish with. It's on to Weiss next month. I'm hoping to improve on my 3rd Place finish there last year.

Good finish, that wind was awful today..... I had a friend who fished the Boater side today he had 16lbs but after he weighed his fish he had to leave, the results aren't posted yet. I'm sure you stayed for the whole weigh-in so where would you say my friend finished?

Thanks and good job.

Good job Pointer! Sounds like a rough day out there for sure. Glad ya'll got on some fish and hope you can do well at Weiss. I know you know that lake well.

Wonder if they were in a Fuji Film wrapped boat? We fished very near them for a good while, not near enough to figure out what color they were throwing. They caught several good fish when it had slowed for most. I'm sure they were way up there on the leaders board. Congrats Pointer, after talking to you on Friday night it sounds like you put yourself in real good position going to your better events and got a check to boot emoThumbsup.

Did Venom finish 30th? Mitch somebody did. If so congrats to you also. Any other CFF member have a good day? I know one that didnt have such a good one, but he can post that if he likes.

My fault, I knew yall finished 28th and 30th, had them turned around. Thats great finishes with the type of competition you had.

Hmmm...I was told by a couple of others that Craig Daniel was in the Fuji boat. I defer to your info there Cutthroat. With your product, you'd know. I bought some of your jigs up at Randy's last week but never got a chance to use them. The copperhead color looks awesome. Can't wait to try them.

Nice job Buddy. The brothers Helton are both good guys and good fisherman. Brent Brady should still be in the FUJI boat. Last I saw, Steve Danial is in a kellogs boat or non sponsered.

I went down to pre-fish for next weeks choo choo tour.About 10 am I go to goose pond to put in.The BFL tourn. director ask if I was going by myself.A co-angler had fell out of the boat and the boater could not continue alone. So I put mt gear in his boat and fished with him.He did`nt want to leave goose pond so we just fished around there. At about 3 we had no fish and said he wanted to go.So he did`nt even finish the tour. After that i did`nt get to fish any more on sat.Sun fished a few hours around the mouth of mud and crow creeks.NO bites.

What area of mud creek was every one fishing?

Thinks guys, my day started with a run all the way down to seibold creek, and man it was rough. Started out there throwing jigs and jerkbaits with nothing coming from it.Fished there for about 2hrs and started back up to Goosepond, and man it was even rougher, my whole upper body is sore from holding on. We went to the very back on north sauty creek and started fishing traps. My boater ended up with just over 10lbs with one 7lb 1oz. I ended up with 9lb 10oz with three fish, all these fish were caught on rattletraps in the grass. Had a pretty good and looking forward to weiss.

You had a better day than me. All I can say was it was cold!!!! My boater and I started above BB Comer but the wind muddied up the area and we were left with pretty much nothing the rest of the day. With the 3-4ft rollers my boater didn't wan't to run the river. We got two bites all day! 0 points for me.... Not the way I wanted to start the year but I'll catch up at Weiss.
