Bank Fishing 3-31-2006

Took off from work yesterday at 3:30 and got 2 doz minnows and went to my rocky place on wolftever. Nothing until 5:30 and then I caught a pounder LM, 2 Smallies, 1 large bluegill, 1 large crappie. Hated to quit .. but dark was coming and my husband wanted dinner!

Rainy on and off ... but over all it was nice fishing. Going again in the morning.

Only kept the crappie, when I got home and hubby cleaned .. said the eggs were immature and she wasn't nearly ready to spawn. Whatever that means! I caught all these just feet from shoreline, not sure how deep the water was for crappie but couldn't have been 5 or so feet deep.

The LM .... that was an awesome bite, got it reeling in and got right at the rocks submerged in front of me in about 1 1/2 foot of water. BANG she hit and next thing I had a fish! Wish I had my camera ... wasn't huge but would have been a keeper. After getting the hook out ... tossed her back to the W and she swam away. One of the smallies I caught danced across the water ... but it was a little one.

I had fun .. I caught fish. Bank fishing isn't as fun as moving around in a boat .. but I'm enjoying the solitude and appreciate the fish.

Great that you got onto some fish yesterday. I was worried that you had had some bad days and might get discouraged but a day like you had always gets me going again as it sounds like it did for you. Again, fantastic post, spring is here and we all can cash in on it!!!!

Congrats!!!! Really good to hear you caught some in that secret hole. If you can manage to slip on down to those trees, you may find a few more Crappie but be careful!! With the rain..those rocks will be slick. Good luck!!! Just may see you in the Wolf!!!

Just got back from an hour on the Wolftever. Didn't get a single nibble so I decided to come home and clean some and go back later this afternoon. Today's my birthday ... so I'm just gonna taker as she comes.

I did however rescue 3 of the cutiest darn puppies! When I went to get minnows this morning at Hamilton Sporting Goods ... they were running around in the parking lot! The lady that runs the store said they saundered over from across the street and she didn't know whose they were. Boy they were the friendliest things!!! Cute as a button. Anyway with all the boats and stuff going in and out they were getting lots of attention but no one wanted to stop their fishing day to taken em home I'm sure. After playing with them a few moments I just couldn't leave them there to get hit by a car ... gosh 58 is way too busy for 3 youngin's to be galavanting around! So I put my fishing gear in the trunk and and loaded those 3 pups up in the car and drove them back across the hwy and banged on the door to the Wolftever Animal Hosipital. They weren't open yet but some girls were in there tending to the stay overs I would imagine. They finally came out and they took the pups in!!! I was so happy!!!

At least they won't get hurt and deserve a great home. They didn't look abused .. fattest little things I've seen in a while!

All in all ... it was good. Saved 3 little tykes and plan on trying the fishing later today. Hope my minnows don't die! But if they do .. I know where to buy more!
