I'm wanting to take my boys ( 10 & 11 ), fishing today after their soccer game, dont know anywhere to go on the Chick. from the bank. Could someone advise me of a good place where they might be able to catch some crappie or stripe or whatever? I will check back here about 1:30 any help will be greatly appreciated.

Depending what you are near on the Chick, there is Harrison Bay State Park off 58, Chester Frost Park off Hixson Pike, the River Park below the Dam on Amnicola, and Rivermont Park off Hixson Pike. I bet a bucket of minnows near some cover in 4-6 ft of water might score a few crappie. That's where they were for me 2 days ago but not in any numbers. Harrison Bay Park has some good walking trails that have decent bank access where there is some cover. If they are schooling down there, I have caught bluegill and small striper below the Dam walking down the rocks to an area just above the RR Bridge. Rivermont Park has a dock and ramp with a little rock point where people bank fish the river - It has been productive on certain days. Chester Frost has a nice looking dock as well and probably some good bank fishing spot. Also, I have taken my kids and caught a few next to the Suck Creek boat ramp. Wherever you go it's going to be a great day to be outdoors. I am heading out camping myself. Good Luck and please let us know how it goes!

Well we could not find the crappie biting at Wolftever or around the state park, but the boys had a blast catching skipjack about 500 yards below Chick. dam.

Were you above or below the railroad trussel? Iv'e been trying to get a cooler full so I can do a little catfishing up on the lake.

From the dam, we parked at the next parking lot down river and walked down to the rocks kinda in between the two lots, just about 50-100 yards below that bridge your asking about. The skipjack they were catching were perfect size too, 7-10 inches long, they were using crappie minnows right at the edge of the current.
