There's been quite a few posts recently about where to do some bank fishing in our area. I fished from the bank for a few years before I bought a boat and the best place I found was Harrison Bay State Park. I fished there 50-75 times a year during full pool. From the pier, (which is new), all the way around to the launch ramp is almost a mile of unobstructed shoreline. Depths range from 15 feet all the way up to 2 feet. Mornings and evenings were always the best times. My best producers were topwater baits such as a Rapala Floating Minnow and spinnerbaits. It was always exciting to throw out the floating minnow and just shake the fire out of the rod tip making it look like a struggling baitfish. With practice, you can you can mke that puppy dance for 5 minutes keeping it in the same spot before having to reel it in. Alot of the bites were EXPLOSIVE. The best times for this technique is 30-45 minutes before dark.A small 1/4 oz white spinnerbait worked very well also. I'd fish it for an hour or so before dusk with good results. Don't let nightfall run you off either. Once it gets dark, switch to a black buzzbait or a black/red Colorado blade spinnerbait. RangerRob makes some great ones. Make sure you concentrate on areas near the lights. They attract insects, which attract Bream, which in turn attracts Bass. I fish almost every Friday and Saturday Night during the Spring and Summer and I always end my trips in that area. If you see a small white BumbleBee with red trim, say hello. If my back seat is open you're welcome to come aboard for a while.
