I grew up salt water fishing (I'm from Miami) but did my fair share of bass fishing. My favorite bass to catch were peacock bass. I would slay them when I was younger and its now been about 6 years since I've really been bass fishing. The lures and techniques i used to use don't seem to be working. The past couple of weeks I've been scouting areas to fish from the bank. In 5 trips of about 6 hours each I've caught a couple crappie (on Rat L Trap somehow), and a hand full of largemouth (all but 1 were no more than 2lbs, that 1 seemed like a 5lber to me).
My question is, where do you guys prefer to fish from the bank when targeting some 3+ lb largemouth? The big one i caught was at Booker T, but I also made my way around Harrison Bay. Is Cheser Frost worth checking out? Is there a pull off I should try out? What time is usually the morning, afternoon, night bites (time seems to have more of an effect than it did back in Miami)? Any information would help. And if anyone has an open spot on their boat and is willing to give me a mini lesson on the Chick, I would forever be in your debt haha.

Bank fishing can be good above the dam at this time, and when that slows, below the railroad bridge in the summer can be awesome. I used to fish live bait and caught tons of bass. Great place to live if you don't have a boat.

Thanks guys! I'm going to have to try all places. I did fish friday morning at the railroad tracks right by dam. Caught 2 largemouth (1 small and 1 decent), a drum, and hooked and lost what looked like a 10-12 lb striper. Got him to about 4-5 ft from the bank at the perfect spot to bring him up, so I took the risk of muscling him in with my ultra light and he immediately turned around, took off, and broke me off. First striper of my life and I'm hooked! Heard now isnt the best time to catch them.
