Did the wind ever blow today, wow!emoBang Me and CCSM had made plans to prefish the Nick today and come hell or high water we decided we were going. We were going to launch out of Marion but when we got there it was lined up with a tournament so we went to Shellmound and ran into the same problem there, just waited our turn there and launched with them. Why and When they were hitting beef corndogs today with mustard, would not touch the pork ones. We had a very good day even with all the wind. I think we caught 22 bass and I know we had 9 keepers.emoThumbsup We ran into one of the guys in the tournament we launched with and he showed us a 9 lb 8 oz LM and we took his picture with it. I believe his name was Brian Sissom and CCSM is going to shoot the pic over to Dhaun to post on here. That was a great looking bass. He said it was his biggest ever. I thought I hit one like that on a red rattle trap today but it turned out to be a very big catfish.emoBang I think that may be my first cat ever on a trap. CCSM, my netter I am pround to say had two today I had to net for him.emoWorthy He did his share with 4 of the keepers and me with five. He also had a big momma on that I was going for the net but she broke his line. I didn't know CCSM could danceemoScratch but when that big gal broke his line he danced all around in my boat and said words I did not understand. I think he got real religious and was speaking in tongues.emoLaugh She took his corndog with her. All in all we had a very good day and even though the wind beat us up all day we really had a good time.emoCool Jmax

That wind really has me messed up. When I sit still I feel like I am still moving in the boat.emoEek I can bet you when I lay down to sleep that bed is going to be giving me motion sickness.

Guys, I'm glad that you had such a good day. New line will help keep the big ones on CCSM. You still have 7 days to change that line before tournament day. Wow, a 9+LM wouldn't that have been fun to bring in and show off at the weigh in? What did you catch most of your fish on? Were they shallow or deep? I watched the coverage of the Santee-Cooper BASS tournament on the TV while you guys were fishing. I wonder if one was in the right place at the right time in one of the TVA impoundments that one could boat a bunch of fish like that? 100+lbs in 4 days. 39+lbs in one day. At least three guys with over 100 lbs for the tournament. Wow, that show got my juices flowing. If I hadn't had to work until 1:30 AM I might have been out there with you guys on the lake. Spill a little info if you can.

Well let me see,...ah...like I said we were using Why and When's secret weapon's of beef and pork corndogs. They wouldn't touch the pork and would only hit the beef with mustard. The shallowest bass came off a log in about a foot and a half and busted that corndog on top. The rest of our bass came from 2 to 14 feet give or take a foot or two.;) Now some of those took the corndogs reeling them in straight and some took them on a c-rig as well as texas rigged. Last but not least that there CCSM is very good at finessing that corndog on light line, shaking it and triggering the strike. Problem is the big ones break that little line.emoBang That's my story and I am sticking to it. READ between the lines and you just might be able to figure out what we actually did. It is really in there so everyone fishing against us next week, especially "Legend in his own Mind" Look out we are coming to get ya!!! emoLaugh emoLaugh This one is gonna be fun.emoCool Jmax

I know what you mean there When, if any of you catch a big female with a corndog in it's mouth CCSM wants it back.emoLaugh Like I said pork was not the flavor(Hint) and we could catch nothing on it. Only would hit the beef. I am about todo a little sole seaching for my salvation and head for church. You all take care and turn them loose to spawn this time of year for sure.emoCool Jmax

Man am I gald we decided to brave the elements and give it a try. It was a very good day to be on the water. The wind did blow - that is for sure - but when you're catching fish it don't matter emoLaugh. After checking in with a tournement that came in just before we did and finding out that 12 lbs won it, and also the fact that the guy we ran into with the 9 1/2 (what an awesome fish!!!) only had that ONE fish and there was two guys in the boat I feel real good about our 20+ bass and 9 keepers. It also was nice to have to have someone net MY fish. Thanks to Jmax for a great trip and for his expert boat handling in tough conditions. I tell you they really liked them beef corn dogs emoEvil emoEvil maybe more details will be revealed after CFF4. emoRolleyes I can say that I caught fish on at least 3 very different styles of baits and presentations. Polo what can I say -- I just changed the line on the reel a few days before our trip. You never really know about the fish that get away, but this fish hit like a big female, she just sucked up my uhh corndog yeah my corndog and just started moving it out of the way. When I hit her it was just like hooking the bottom for a second then she moved off to the side for about 5 or 6 feet before heading away from me. That's when the new line just snapped. Jmax is right --- I did my OH MAN I JUST LOST a really GOOOOOOOOOD fish dance on the back of his ranger and I'm sure I was speaking in an unknown tongue for a moment or so, but I was a good boy and didn't utter any profane words, my friend Jesus don't like that!!!!!!!! I'm about to send a couple of pics of the 9 1/2 lb bass that Brian Sissom (Brian if I've misspelled your name I'm sorry) caught to Dhaun to post. I'm glad we ran into Brian on the water and he is a real gentleman. We were fishing toward a point and he came up to the point about the time we got there. He asked us if we were going to fish the bank on around and if we were he said he would yield to us. We told him we were just fishing for fun and for him to just go ahead since he was in a tournement. I liked his reply and the class he showed when he said that it didn't matter that he was in a tournement, that we were there first and he would yield if we wanted to go on around. I've always gotten aggravated at the tournement guys who think that just because they are fishing for money, they own the lake and that recreational anglers should just get out of their way. I hope we all in the CFF show courtesy to our fellow anglers during our events just like Brian did to Jmax and me. Well I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone next Saturday for CFF4. I hope that we have great weather and that everyone catches a boat load!!!!!!

Thanks for the pic CCSM and the great report! I updated your post with the best shot of the bass. I especially appreciate your remarks about being courteous on the water - it goes a long way...I'm willing to bet it's alot easier to be friendly with a fattie like that swiming in the livewell! emoThumbsup

My bad everyone, I'm not so good with names and to be honest I was really concentrating on the giant fish, but Mr. Sissom's name is Brian not David. Sorry for the mistake, like I said he was a really nice guy and I want to get the info correct.

Thanks,

Thanks for the update CCSM. I made the name correction to the post above. I hope he gets online so he can see his pic on CFF or on the Chattanoogan.

Hey Dhaun,

Man you are really on top of this thing, I appreciate the speed that you got it corrected and Richard also responded fast to get the online paper corrected. Concerning the courtesy thing -- I hope that the CFF through the forum and also our events can become an even greater force to bring the fishing community together here in the Chattanooga area. We anglers share a love for God's creation and creatures and if we really band together we can impact things like water quality, public policy when it comes to our resources, and promoting good stewardship of those resources and last but not least encourage ethical, courteous behavior on our rivers, lakes, streams and even boat ramps and parks.

Happy to Live and Play in Tennessee!

Thanks for the report guys. Now if I could just figure out this corndog thing maybe I could catch something!emoScratch Need all the help I can get. The wind was a whipping at parksville too. Maybe it will do better during the CFF tournys.

What a fish. Does the tail look kinda bloody? It does to me. CCSM, did you say what he caught the fish on? Corndogs I guess.

No on that big gal it was not bloody at all. She was full of eggs as well. Some of the bass showed no signs at all of starting the spawn yet but some did show a little. They look to be heading in right now and starting to set up house. Brian told us he caught that big one on a pig and jig, black on black. He also admitted it was the only keeper they had caught. I guess if you are going to catch just one, that is the just one you want. We tried to make it back to see their weigh in but missed it. That tournament had already left out. We did not know it but there were two that went out of there that morning and the other was still hanging around. They said 12 something took theirs. I think CCSM and I would have gotten a check in theirs but do not know about the other.emoCool Jmax

WOW what a pretty pretty darlin' fish. When you see something like that .. makes your heart skip a beat! It's a BBB if I ever saw one!

Hope you all catch one like that when you tourney there next week!!! Can't wait to see the pictures.

TT

That may have been the guys we talked to at the landing, flip. We struck up a conversation with a couple of them and they did say BB was like 5+ and it was 12 something to win. I think it was right at 13, they may have just rounded up. We had two solid threes and I'd say at least three solid two+'s so we would have done well in that one, we would have been right there if not a little better. They did not know what it took to win the first one where that big bass was weighed in on.emoCool Jmax

Was it the ABA out of Shelmound that morning you are talking about. We never asked who's tournament it was.

The other T it took 17+. I think 15+ second. If I remember correct, the guy w/ the big fish had two more keeps either 13 or 14+. This was Carl Reed's T that was at Shellmound.

Hey thanks Dec1, that was really bugging me but now that you mentioned it that was the name I heard them say. Carl Reed tournament was what one of the guys said that morning as we were launching. Sounds like they did much better than the bunch did when we came in. I was wondering if those guys with the nine and half had gotten on anymore. With one like that to anchor them it wouldn't have taken much to be in the money.emoCool Jmax
