I thought that I'd start this thread as it looks like many people are out there today. I am eager to hear how everyone has done. As the year gets into spring/summer I would expect that the number of daily posts, especially on the weekends will go way up and if everyone posts under the same thread it may be easier to wade through and find workable patterns. If everyone would post under the same thread for the same species for the same day it may make things easier. If anyone has an idea that would work better let me know.

I wicked case of Bronchatis kept me grounded today. I am about to head up to Bass Pro Shops to purchase a new trolling motor. Its the Spring Fever sale. Gotta get my boat fixed up, got tournaments the next 3 Saturdays! CFF is for fun... but the rest are for blood (Club tourney and Fraternity tourney)! emoToast

Yeah, it sucks to read about you guys wacking them on the weekends but I get to go and wack em while most of you guys are doing the 9 to 5 thing through the week! And I noprmally have the river to myself.

I caught some spots and white bass on a spinnerbait( gold/ colorado/ chart. skirt) in about 10 feet of water that was 57 degrees. This was up river from the kingston steam plant, and the water was going up. I also went up the Emory, did not catch any up there. Water was 49 degrees. Also went to Riley creek and saw lots of shad and gulls. water was 53 degrees.

You are right about the 9 to 5 thing. There were boats EVERYWHERE today. There must have been 15 -20 in the Harrision Bay area and Woltever. I love the days where I don't have to mess with the boat traffic and you have the river to yourself.

That's why i ran out $40 of gas today. But we got second place in the harrison basmasters buddy ser.tourn. I had a 4.26Lb largemouth,.I'll post some pictures tommrow. But it seem's to me if you want to catch fish anymore you've got to get away from Harrison Bay state park.

Fished a tourny out of Shellmound the 4th it took 14.22 to win. We had 4 little keepers thet went 8.39 but got deducted 1lb. for a small fish.(it wasent a spot afterall) So we ended up with 7.39. For the day we caught 13 fish 3 were junk(1 drum 2 shad) all were caught on a red trap,white/chrome trap/gold/red slash bait in about 6-8 ft. water near cover/grass the temp was around 49-51

Blue Ridge Bassmasters fished the 1rst tourney of the year yesterday out of Loyston Point on Norris Lake. 1rst place took 10.01 to win followed by 2nd place of 5.30...15 boats and about 28 fisherman... needless to say it was tough... conditions couldn`t be much worse for ultra clear water...cold front , blue bird skies, just enough wind to limit some techniques..water temps 44-48....I had one peckerhead run into my bait and hook himself in the side early and finally got my only bite at 2:20 on rootbeer Flat Max Bandit..3.21 lbs good for 6th place...Iwas betting my partner it was a drum the way he was acting ,really lethargic....big fish was 4.o1 largemouth....this tourney was supposed to be feb 18 but was postponed because of freezing rain and ice and snow before start time...probably would have had better weights then but not worth the risk on the crooked hilly roads leading to launch ramps. Next tourney march 18 on Loudon-Tellico...and interesting note ,we had 8 new members sign up who are deaf..creating as you might guess some challenges..one pair came in 3rd and the smile on their faces was all the communication needed for that !! They seem to be a fun bunch really charged up to compete and it should make for some fun times ahead !!
Norris Lake bass fishing has been on the up swing for the last few years, we had several 3 lb smallmouth brought in and the largemouth are getting bigger in spite of a large spot population.
oh yeah , for you striper fisherman(rockfish) there were quite few striper people fishing upstream in the clinch river, 3-4 miles up from Hickory Star boat dock....lots of gulls in area...used to be one of the best lakes for big stripers... a few years back a lot of 50lb plus caught every year ...you don`t hear of them that big the last few years ...but still some big`uns in there...only requirement is if you catch them you have to take `em home and eat `umemoToast
