Bass Fishing (or wishing) Upper Chick 7/3

We got on the water about 7 am and decided to try a little top water in the weeds. Caught one keeper right off the bat, had several nice blowups but no hookups. Kept looking out at the main lake and seeing shad busting minnows in packs. I mean they had the water boiling! I've never seen shad this thick. We moved out and decided to fish under them and see what happened. I figured there would be a lot of bass picking up crippled fish and even some of the shad. Began casting with a Rattle Trap and hooked up at once. Nothing huge, just average fish. Caught 9 this was with Fishing Fire until suddenly someone flipped a switch and the bite stopped about 10. Water was pretty shallow, about 4 to 5 feet. By the way, if anyone knows of a good stretch of grass, weeds or whatever, please drop me a line! I love catching them on top like an addict loves drugs!

we'll just have to keep an eye out for those "boils" of fish coming up to hit the shad. I think that is where a lot of bass are right now, chasing the baitfish.
