Went out about 530 this evening and found out right away that the weather report of light wind was not the case at all! It about blew us off the water, it was actually whitecapping in the place I had chosen to fish. Water was up a lot also. Water temp was about 76 so it is down a couple of degrees from a few days ago. I tried fishing humps, and points but just had to stay on the trolling motor so much that I decided to run up river. Found a little cove and pulled in and immediately began to hook up with bass on a chart and white spinner bait. Fishing Fire managed a couple of decent bass and one HUGE drum (he was yelling, get the net, get the net!!) on a jig. I switched over to a black spinner bait about dark and hooked up with a few more. Ended up with 10 fish, 2 of which were nice keepers. Had a bunch that tossed it back at me including one big ole small mouth that did an air show right before he slung it at the boat. Not a spot in the bunch which suprised me considering the area we were fishing. Not a bad day considering the wind and all.

Good report there Fishnfool. Glad you are still finding them. You had better be on fish with the NRG fishing this weekend. Oops, he is on the list but has not yet responded so I do not know for sure he is coming.emoRolleyes Jmax

I'm wondering if anyone will be on fish with the temps dropping like they are supposed to. The front is supposed to come through on thursday night and friday morning and the temps are supposed to be around 42 to 45 the morning of the TX, with clear blue skies and north winds 10 to 15 mph! Yikes!

Glad to hear that you are still on the fish up there. Were you as far up as the Hiwassee or just up to the Soddy/Birchwood area? Was there much grass there? I saw a few really nice looking grass beds way up towards the Hwy 60 bridge last week. I would expect that someone will really be on the fish this weekend and the cooling water may turn them on, let's hope so.

Polo where I was most of the grass that had been on top was submerged now due to the water level coming up some. I also notice a lot of it turning brown and dying back. We were fishing just north of Eldridge Slough so we didn't get up as far as the Hwy 60 Bridge. The last time I was up that way there was a TON of grass around the old ferry crossing up at 60. Haven't been back to see if it has died back yet.
