JC1 Thanks again for the fishing tonight. We fished a few spots tonight after not fishing Harrison bay for a few years. Bait fish were stacked up on an outside bend of the creek but we couldn't find any takers. Saw lots of fish off the ends of some of the points in Harrison bay state park but still found no takers. Ended up catching a couple of fish on a main lake flat that had some grass on it. The wind wasn't very helpfull and being out at night in the middle of the lake and no close landmarks to triangulate with made it tough but next time we'll do better. The fish are out there and will bite but finding the sweet spots and staying on them is still the trick. I just looked again at the maps that I have and can see that we never got back to the spot where we caught the couple of fish that we did. There is a little point farther away from the little island where I think that those fish were stacked on. I will scan the map and show you what I mean tomorrow if I can. Thanks again for letting me try out your color fish finder, it's incredible. Learning to use it will take a while but once you do it will get you onto lots of fish.

Polo-Dog I really enjoyed getting to fish with you last night. It's alway's good to fish with new people and learn new things to help enjoy and be successful at the sport. I look forward to getting to fish with you some more and I'll keep working on learning that graph!JC1

That's great you were able to hook-up and fish that area!!! I hope more folks on the forum can do that as well.

Where are some good ramps in that area to put in (i.e. free and not crowded)? I might be heading that way as soon as I get my new motor broken in...

That area of the lake gets such heavy recreational use that it's near impossible to find a ramp that's not crowded unless you get there awfully early or are fishing at night. As for free- you might try the ramp at Skull Island (but it's kind of small) and I'm not sure about Booker T. Washington State Park as I haven't put in there in quite some time (and they used to lock it up at dusk). Wolftever is a good ramp (wide enough for three at a time), it has a dock and even though it gets crowded you generally don't wait very long if at all. Also, Wednesdays are free. I don't particularly like paying the three bucks, but as long as they're using the money to keep the ramp and the park open and in good repair for us it's worth it to me. JC1

Booker T. still closes at dusk as far as I know. There is a free ramp out in the champion rd. area I think the road is called vincent?you turn at the same road that takes you to eagle bluff golf club.
Years ago I lived on champion rd. and I would fish off the bank there and the point
just up the road from there.Never had a day that I didn't catch at least one fish from thosa areas.

As a "non-boater", I would love the opportunity to get together with some of you guys for a day or evening on the lake. I am limited to fishing with my father-in-law on Saturdays - he has a boat - and all too often he ends up working. Maybe we should start a thread for those who are looking for an occasional fishing buddy?

There's a forum category below called "Need A Crew? Need A Ride?" I will post there next time I have plans to go and need some help. Hopefully other forum members will do the same so we can all have an excuse to get more fishing in!!!

I like to go below Chickamauga since it's close by my house and I am free to go most nights after work except Wednesdays. If I can get off work a bit early though I will be going to Nickajack. I bet I can easily fish 3 on my boat and I will definitly need someone to help/watch me jackknife the trailer into my garage until I can get more practice.

Eagle Bluff golf club road, the ramp - son #4 and I were fishing off the shore at that ramp and down the path nearby, looked like a very big ramp, got very little use while we were there, for an hour or two max. Plenty of turn around space, etc. I about decided that if/when I get a boat, to use that ramp. Two boats came and went during the time we were there. (no fish!)
