I rarely go to BPS. Most things I’m looking to purchase are too high. I do however, like Sportsman Warehouse. Looks as if that may change. I purchase a lot from Tackle Warehouse. Can you say “monopoly”?

Extremely sad to hear this announcement, but understand it’s all business. I am guessing they will close all sportsman’s locations where they have a BPS footprint? I always liked the equipment and gear selection at sportsman’s, since I don’t fish or wear BPS products.

Agree. Always liked having another option and often times they’d have stock BP didn’t. Hate to see em go or change a lot.

Agreed! Buy local for sure. Between Soddy Tackle and Tanks in Cleveland, you’ll get taken care of. And now Lake Chick tackle on 58 who is trying to make great strides to be an awesome tackle shop. If we support them, they will take care of us and we won’t be wasting the money on the big box stores. Check out Lake Chickamauga Tackle and Outdoors when ya get a chance. Great guys and big aspirations

I hate this and like sportsmans. I've stopped by Lake Chick bait on 58 and they are doing good things. Where is Tanks in Cleveland?

Tanks is on Georgetown Rd. It’s the old Fishtales shop. Tank bought it a 4 years or so ago. Great guy. Do a lot of custom lures and baits too

This forum needs a "Like" button. I could spend all my money at Soddy tackle they produce and carry quality lures. Not a big fan of BPS as it is over priced and commercialized with most stuff coming from out of country.

Could always count on SW for some harder to find items when you needed it quickly. Always got great service there also.

My opinion?

Buying the competition to control the market.
Again...can you say monopoly boys & girls? Sure you can. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

I agree BPS and Johnny is creating a monopoly. Have not bought anything from them in 15 years. If the Tackle Trap, Land Big Fish or Tackle Warehouse does not have it then I do not need it.
Wish we had closer independent tackle stores near me.

BPS and other internet companies have DESTROYED the independent tackle retailer. I owned a tackle shop and I can assure you that an individual can order most things and have them delivered to their door as cheap as the independent retailer can purchase them for resale!. It's sad but that's where the tackle trade is now. And it's not likely to change in the future.

Combine that with the funds required to fully stock a retail store, and the slim profit margins, and it just isn't profitable anymore.

Where on 58? Do they sell minnows? I will definitely visit. Thanks.
