I didn't catch this bass but I tried my best to save it. It was struggling to survive on top of the water. I got it back to HBSP where a couple of members of the CFF worked with it and then it was taken to a well known bass fisherman to try and "fizz" it. Our fishing trip turned into a rescue mission today and thank you to the people that helped. Any fish that had survived this long deserved another chance. It weighed a little over 8 pounds. I don't know about the outcome yet and I realize the chances of survival aren't very good but for some reason I just felt compelled to try and save it.

Update :

Thanks to the fine efforts of Bryan and Gavin Ainslie and a big assist from Hayden Lamb our bass rescue mission might have had a good outcome. Bryan and Gavin worked with the fish for 30 more minutes after I handed it off to them and then they hooked up with Hayden Lamb who used a trick to get the bass to the bottom in cooler deeper water. The thinking and the hope was that the full bladder in cooler deeper water should hold the fish right in that pressure. The fish didn't surface again and the belief is that it had great odds for success. emoThumbsup

Kudos! I found a dead 7 lber on tellico when I was about 12 years old, hadn't been dead too long. Took it to the dock and showed it to my mom and told her I caught it, she about fainted!!! Hahhaha. Then I told her I found it dead and she said "get that nasty thing outta here!"

thanks. see alot of mishandled fish in videos and such. Fish being lifted into the boat and allowed to flop around on the carpet, culling tags not properly used, livewells not operated properly. Take care of the resource.
