To start, it was a great day to be on the water for the CFF tourney. Got to fish with an old buddy and had a blast, just wish we could have had a more successful outcome for the tourney. Fished about 8 different locations, all mainly being secondary points and creek channel banks branching off the main river channel. All in all, we didn't catch a lot of fish, but I believe we were in the right areas. The first area we went to, my partner caught a couple shorts on a medium diving crankbait. We got hung up on throwing those and some soft plastics without a lot of luck and I wish I had switched over sooner emoBang to throwing what i had planned on throwing all day and eventually caught our only keeper on in the last 40 min of the tourney. Hindsight is always 20/20 but the good thing about tourney fishing is you always remember things like that and hopefully emoScratch I won't make that mistake again. I believe the fish are in all stages of the spawn right now and I love fishing this time of year for that reason because you have a lot of options on where and how to catch the fish. We mainly threw crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics but just didn't get the bites we needed. I broke off on one fish emoBang throwin a tube that I know had to be close to 4 to 5 lb. That was another tough lesson learned this time around about not changing line or putting on new line. My partner missed a couple of fish as well but that is just part of fishin. As he said, "That's why they don't call it catchin'!" emoLaugh Again, like I said, I think if I had stuck to my original gameplan and threw what I had confidence in and knew would work, there is no doubt in my mind we would have likely had 2 other really good keepers. Anyhow, it was a great experience and I love bein on the water no matter what and to get to fish with an old friend and catch up, you can't beat it. Can't wait to do it again and thanks to the CFF administrators and members for gettin' this tournament trail together. The comrade and companionship is great and lookin forward to seein' everyone again on the water rippen bass jaws. emoThumbsup emoCool
