Haven’t been able to fish since early November due to working way to much! Dad wanted to try for walleye and crappie below watts bar dam. We had no idea they were spilling 16 of the 20 flood gates! So after launching the boat and finally able to get dad in the boat safely we ran up toward the dam, no good water way to rough and fast. So we ran down river and started cranking the Frits side 7 crankbait in the red colors. First smalll mouth was a fat 4lber, lost another about the same size. We caught several shiorts, stripe and of course big drum thru out the day. Ran back up the lake on the rip rap hoping to catch some more bass and ended up catching a 19 and 25 inch walleye on the crank baits. Water was moving so fast we really had burn em th keep up but still caught fish. We found an eddy behind a rock pile and it was on!! Dad caught a 3.11 smallmouth then a 3.10. I got a 4.8 and a keeper largemouth in the same hole. We also had 2 short smallmouth. We ended up with 12 smallmouth, 2 largemouth and a Kentucky, plus two bonus walleye for the day. Not sure how many drum and stripe we caught but they are plentiful! Best days fishing with my dad in a long time! Hope for a bunch more in 2020! God Bless y’all fisherman and have a safe 2020!
