Called Fishin' Junkie up on his way back from the Gunny and we decided to hit the Chick this morning. Met at HBSP around 8am and fished around the islands a bit chunking rattle traps...nothing. Then headed up to some rocky areas and threw the spinnerbait for a little while. It's a tradition for FJ to hook up with a drum. I thought he had done just that when up jumped a nice smallie. He got him in the boat and we snapped a nice pic. We then headed towards Wolftever to get out of the wind. Found some laydowns and caught several small crappie, bluegill, and FJ got him another drum. Fished one more dock around Waconda and it was time to go... emoBang The motor wouldn't start...same problem as before. It will crank up but then sputter out right away. I guess the new fuel line wasn't the solution. Looks like I'll be taking it in somewhere. It's almost like it's starving for gas. So anyway, we trolled over to Island Cove and they were gracious enough to let us use their ramp emoThumbsup All problems aside, it was a really nice day out and we had a lot of good laughs. Thanks to FJ for filling the backseat and all the help with my motor today emoWorthy

nice SM!! is something wrong with its top lip?

Are you talking about me or the fish... emoPoke I didn't notice anything wrong when I caught it but it does look a little funny.

Thanks for the invite Corey. I had a good time today up until the motor problems. I hope you can get it all worked out. We'll take my boat out next time.

We couldn't find any keeper crappie today. We thought they would be moving up with the warmer water temps but they weren't there. Corey caught one that was about 9" and that was the biggest crappie of the day. And I caught 2 drum cause I'm always good for a few of those nasty things. emoLaugh

Boat motor problem sounds awfully familiar as this is what has been driving me crazy for the past two years. What I have found is that if I pull the cowling off and let the engine cool for about 5 minutes, it runs like a top. Intermittant problems are like chasing ghosts. Mechanics can't fix it if it don't break down with them. Too expensive just to start changing out parts. Makes a feller uneasy about running any distance from launch point, especially down current or downwind. Keep the phone numbers handy of the CFFers who have volunteered to come pull you back to the ramp if you break down. emoGeezer

I know what you mean. It ran great Fri/Sat...but the only time it wouldn't start was when we were getting ready to head back to the ramp sunday. Luckily we weren't far from there and my wife was staying on the lake and could take me to my truck. I just love fishing the Riverpark but hate to travel too far or I'll end up at the Nick dam... emoBang
