This is true they do make a drumming sound especially saltwater black drum. Drum have been known to run into trolling motors because of the vibration as well. My grandfather loved to eat drum and I've have myself but you have to eat it while its hot out the grease! The meat on larger ones tend to be tough no matter how you cook it. As a kid we fed a big one to our cats and they barely sniffed at it. LOL
Speaking of Shad...When I was working for UGA Fisheries there was a guy in Rome, Ga that ate shad (American shad). He cooked them down like sardines in a pressure cooker. He gave us a canning jar full but we were to afraid to eat it.
