Bat cave on Nickajack

After telling my girlfriend about the evening exodus of bats at the cave, she tells me she wants to experience it. Is the observation platform still usable? Is it worth taking in?

You talking in the boat or from the shore? Last time I was down there in summer...you couldnt fish after dark for the stinking bats running into your line

The platform was still useable the last time I was there in April.

You will get a much better view from the boat by parking out in the middle of cave lake.

There is a kayak/canoe company that brings boats out on Friday or saturday nights, you can rent one and go over as a group or you can bring your own boat, we've taken our kayaks once and went once out on the pontoon to watch them come out... its pretty fun.

The observation deck is still accessible. I dont know if the "park" that it's located in closes after a certain time anymore or not though. I will agree that it is quite a site from the water. You would still get a good show from the deck though.

Hmmm...gonna look into the renting canoe thing. Been watching YouTube videos on it.
