Ok .. after the last post on batteries.. a week or two ago .
Who makes the best batteries .. Well I have done some in-store research .

Walmart -
They carry both Exide and Johnson Controls aka Walmart Private Label
The Soddy Daisy store carries only 2 Johnson Controls Marine batteries .. the rest are Exide
The Maxx Series is Johnson Controls its the biggest most reserve amp marine battery they carry at 85.00 the other Johnson Control battery is 65.00 and the Exide is 60.0
All 1 Year Warranty, the Max Battery Maybe be two yrs

Advance Auto .
All the batteries . Marine Batteries anyway are Johnson Controls and they are about 5 bucks more than Walmart per battery .. BUT . their batteries have a slightly higher reserve capacity
1 Year Warranty

O'Reily - forget it .. the only marine battery they carry is a small starting battery

I havent yet been to Pep Boys , K-Mart, or AutoZone

But I will assume that Kmart sells Sears brand Batteries . Which at least some of theirs is Johnson Controls

Interstate Batteries
On Shallowford Rd has group 29 blemish batteries .. the manager tells me they are new and they give a full 12 month warranty replacement for 49.00 as was posted in the earlier post.

Here is Interstate batteries Marine Battery Chart, better reserves than any of the House Brands I have seen so far, or the Stowaway ( Exide ) that Academy Sports is selling</p>

.. and PS the Acadamy Warranty is a full 12 months even exchange per the manager today, the Academy batteries are cheaper than wal-mart or Advanced .. </p>
And I just found and interesting article on this very subject Interstate dosent make theirs either lol ..
Another Private Label Made by Johnson Controls and many others

Ok it looks like just about what you buy they didnt make it anyway lol

Here is a good article on deep cycle batteries and what it all means... they do sell batteries .. industrial and solar uses mainly.. but have great info.

Buying a battery is a crap shoot .. Ive seen complaints about every brand out there gel and lead acid .. Im going to go get two of the Group 29 Interstate Blemish Batteries .. I will let you know how it goes and what I think about them like anyone cares .. but I can buy almost two for what one of the others will cost me.

Hope any of this helps some one

<font size="3">"Ain't Sheered" - I'll chime in. You mentioned it. You can spend the big bucks to get that battery that is bullet proof. good for you and mostly for the dealer. Of all the years of having boats and batteries I have learned that a great warranty on a good batterythat you can get honored at anywhere you may be is the thing to stick with. Therefor that putswally-world's MaxX batteries in front. You can get a new battery 24/7 andanywhere you may be without waiting. Furthermore I have found that the dual purpose type batteries perform much better overall than having a starting battery and two trolling batteries. I run Three 29 series dual purpose batteries in my Pro line boat. If Offshore and my starting battery goes down, no problem, switch out one of my others for trolling. I wanna get back home.</font>
