I apparently have something pulling on my super duper Diehard when everything is supposed to be turned off. I have the normal stuff any Tx ready Bullet has including the Low HD& and SS.

Can someone line me up on checking for drain with a Multimeter....most everything goes thru fuse panel but a few single connections to the batt direct. Everything is supposed to be switched or slaved to it`s companion equipment.

any advice on meter would be of help ! Thanks

I had problems with my bullet doing the same thing I found out it was the in dash clock doing it to mine if you have a clock on your boat you might want to check that

I don't have a bullet but I always trip my power to everything when I'm not using my boat. If you don't have a Bkr. dis-connect your leads. If you have a small ground the battery will just feed it.

Seems like I heard a GPS antenna may be a drain as well. Need to be sure to charge all batteries when you get in. Unless you're running a BUNCH, the Opti won't be able to maintain full charge. Sorry, I can't help you with the meter deal. I leave that stuff to my EE type bro' in law.

Snuffy,

Can your meter read amps? Even just 2-3 amps will do. If not just use a 12V bulb. Pull the positive cable and take a reading between the cable and the battery. Ideally, it should be zero. If you have a current draw, start pulling your fuses & see if you can identify the offending circuit. You may find you have a frayed wire in the bilge or hidden somewhere. These are tougher to isolate - you may have to start disconnecting wires to find these kind of things. Just do one at a time and keep track of which you have already checked (use a wire tie or something). Sometimes you find it right away, other times it becomes a case for Sherlock Holmes. Good luck!!

No,clock and SS is on a acc switch on panel. Gps is internal.... I agree it`s probably a 2-3amp deal... if that. A continuity tester would work ...just to see if something is pulling current...wouldn`t it The good thing is there are only 4 or five hook ups on the battery......should be able to isolate to an area anyway. Thanks guys Hey John...Charlie K`s going to come back and fish the club this year....he says !! You`ll have to come "guest "with him !!

if your battery will pass a load test,,idealy you want less tan 250 mil-amp {1/4 amp}draw,, you can use a 12v test light ,,either or ,,"inline"between negative side of battery and negative cable,,then isolate circuits till draw is gone,{light goes out},if you narrow it down to your boat,{not motor, t-motor,batt charger, hds or gps stuff, etc..}disconneting fuses at fuse panel can help isolate "boat" circuits,,,,,,

If yu have a digital meter check the battery terminals. When charging you should read around 13.5 to 14V and when unplugged you should be right at 12V from - to +. I had a battery issue last year also and turns out I had VERY corroded connections at the fuse panel and the terminal was pretty much rusted lose and causing voltage to leak to ground.

Snuff, hope you get'r figured out, pal. Afraid I'll have to pass on that fine "guest" offer. I'm thinking Charlie and Sam would make the perfect team. LOL!!. If you're interested, I been getting some crappie love up in Bat creek the last day or two. Have a good one!!
