The battery that was on my boat when I bought it died. Below is the info on it:

Interstate Battery (Marine/RV)
24M-RD
400 CCA
500 MCA
75 Reserve

Academy has the following for $65.00:
Stowaway Battery (Trolling/Starting/RV)
STS24DP625
500 CCA
625 MCA
120 Reserve

Will it matter that the replacement battery has higher amperage than was originally on the boat? I don't want to mess up the motor or any of the electrical system, including the depthfinders. The motor is a Mercury 40hp 4 stroke (2006).

Also, does anyone know if the external puck for my 798c searches for a signal whether the unit is on or off? I just assumed that it would turn off when the unit was powered down and the display removed but the question came up today.

Any help with this will be appreciated. emoThanks

Re: Battery Question

It will not hurt anything. It is higher cold cranking amps and has a higher reserve so it should last longer trying cranking if engine was hard to start

The bigger battery is just fine. Won't hurt a thing. The H-bird gps puck (it's just an antenna) won't drain the battery with the unit powered off, if that was your question.
