Someone order some cold weather with wind this morning? Geeez. I swear it was worse then last week! Anyways....

Jason and I managed to do "OK". There wasnt hardly any current at all, so many of you know that it can just about shut down a bite. We did get a few nice ones in the boat. Jason got the only Smallie in the boat and I got 1 2.75 Spot. Total caught was 7 or 8. Check out the Crawdads that came out of these fish!

Oh...1 more thing so you can have a laugh....My truck battery, was DEAD when we got back to the ramp. Geeeez!

Heres the pics....

WOW, those are some fat little dudes. What did you catch them on? I've never ate a spot, are they good eating? Sounds like you guys did ok on a tuff bite day.emoThumbsup

Well BBass at least you got to get your boat in da water .. even if your battery was dead when ya got back. Hopefully tommarrow i will do at least as good as yall did. I plan on being on the water around 10am.. Im gonna wait for it to start to warm up a lil b4 I go out.

. You know with the luck you've had with batteries you might want to get one of those jumper boxes.

Spaaaaaats and 'dads, what a combo. Were you fishing in the rocks? I would expect so with the 'dads so thick in their bellies.

Largeheads eat much better emoVomit Leave my spots along!!! Just kidding nice fish guys.

FYI- if you didn't know, we have a completely different situation on the TN river than you have on Lanier, and we are encouraging the harvest of our spots, who seem to be taking over trophy smallmouth habitat. Plus, I am not sure our spots even get as big as the Coosa's do.

BTW- Great sack of spots guys!

Jason and I agree the "catch depth" was right at 12'

Most of the fish came from, or really close, to rocks.

I'm about tempted to get a few crawdads next time and see if the bite is any better. I've heard that spring time is the best to throw one but with bellies full of them now, maybe its that time. Theres always a crawdad or two in what I keep down there but that bag was just FULL.

Jason, thanks for going and bearing that weather. Yes, seemed much colder than last weekend!

Hey Whiskers...let me just say that the picture was taken there..

Hey, the switch didnt get me this time and I've figured out a great way to know if it comes on. A indicator light near my depth finder should do the trick. Not sure what happened to the truck. We left no lights on...very strange unless my battery is just giving out....arg!

Billy what you and Jason found may be a testimate to why red cranks and traps can be so effective in the very early spring. Alot of red color in those craws right now. Nice fish guys emoThumbsup .

Fess up BBass, you switched the boat battery and truck battery around the other day didnt ya emoPoke

LOL Flip. Naw, never swapped them.

I do have 1 more time this happened though.... When you and I went to pre fish for the Frostbite Tx...1 Trolling motor battery totally died! 12volts all day.

We need a "Hair pulling out" smiley!

As for the Craw color, heres what I'm temped to try in a crank bait.

BBassJr used 1 a couple of times around the bend and did quite well with it. I think his was the Wee Crawl.

I remember several years back I use to throw a lure that looked alot like those, it was called the " Bass Magnet " and it worked pretty good.

Churly---

I know the deal w/ the spots on the Tenn, I fish Chickamauga often.... I don't think they are Coosa Spots and even if they are they will still over run a lake..... Eat all you want I understand, it was a joke.

No offense taken, I just wasn't sure if you knew about the "Eat more spots" campaign that Mad Bomber pioneered. With your tallent for catching spots we would welcome you to our waters anytime! Please take home a sack full!;)

I had to wait a day before replying...it took that long to get the feeling back in my pinkies

. I must admit that I figured shiner fishing was going to be child's play. Stick a shiner on a hook and let him swim in the strike zone until he gets munched? It is not as easy as it sounds! After getting spanked by Bbass for an hour or so, I finally managed to stick a pretty good spot and keep it on. At the next stop, I caught the smallie and started to feel like I was getting the hang of it. A few minutes later my rod doubles and I swing for the fence...missed a good one

. Bbass immediately drops his shiner down, grunts, and yells "Net, net net!" and hauls in a 3lb spot

. I definitely got a schooling!

Hey Bbass, I'd love to do it again sometime, with or without current. I have a hunch that craws may produce a better bite on slow days.

Bbass, I was thinking about the dead battery today and had an idea. When I put the key in the ignition, the only indicator on the dash was the "anti-theft" lamp. Is it possible that someone tripped your alarm and it sounded all day until the battery died?
