Jmax, thanks for the stroganoff recipe, i'll have to try that out.

I tried this last night, and it was awesome.

Ingredients:
deer tenderloin
honey bbq sauce
A-1
salt
pepper

1. Tenderize and fork tenderloins
2. Salt and Pepper both sides
3. Cover tls with 5 parts BBQ 1 part A-1
4. Marinate at room temp for 20 minutes
5. Grill to med-rare or medium, nothing over

I had it with a baked potato and corn on the cob... it was excellent.

I maybe should of PMed you Jmax since we are the only cooks on here!

You're not the only cooks, but this is finally right up my wheelhouse since it involves a grill! I'm giving this one a try before the end of the week!

Thanks,
RR

That is good, done one real close, instead of A-1s I soaked it in Dale's for about an hour. The rest was the same.emoTongue Jmax

I get critized all the time for my distaste for Dale's. It just adds too much saltiness to the meat for me. When i've used it before I've only basted with it, does soaking meat in Dale's keep the meat salty?

Sounds excellent, BPrice. I just emailed the recipe home to my wife so the tenderloins will be ready for the grill when I get home from school.

Yes, it is very easy to overdo a Dale's marinade. Instead of soaking, I lay the meat (venison hamsteak) on a plate full of Dale's for about 5 seconds and then flip for 5 more. Then I dump the plate and put the hamsteak in a ziploc in the fridge for about an hour prior to grilling. If you soak the meat in Dale's too long, you can't taste the meat...just Dale's.

Hope you like it Jason. I feel for you being in school, i got done a year ago, and its been the most relaxing year of my life! What are you studying?

Nursing...got about two years left. Should've listened to my parents and went to college right after high school. At the time, however, girls and pot were my number-one priorities.

Good field, my best friend is a nurse. Males in that field are in HIGH demand... you'll do well.

Sometimes other things cloud our mind... i hear ya.

RE: BBQ Deer Tenderloin,hey Jason

Hey Jason, that is a good field. My best friend of my college years followed about the same path you did and I do mean the same priorities and all. He finally got his head cleared went back to school in nursing. After about five years doing the hospital thing and nursing old folks he landed a job in nursing kids for the county specail schools and loves it. He works the same schedule as a teacher so he is off in the summer to fish and has all the days off when the schools are closed in the winter to hunt. He is off so much I always give him a hard time wanting to know when he works.emoCool Jmax

Excellent recipe, Bprice. Last night was the first time my kids ate venison without drowning it in A1emoLaugh. It was a welcome change from the "usual".

Awesome, glad they liked it!!!

I had it again myself for dinner and lunch today :)

Its great, because i'm trying to cut some college weight: pizza, wings, beer, etc...

Deer tenderloin per 3 ozs only have 107 calories! That is insanely low and i love it!

If you are looking to cut some saturated fat out of your diet, venison is the way to go. Being "free range", it's a healthy substitute for anything you would normally use beef for.
