I hesitated to even post this, but I think its neat that we have bears close! For obvious reasons I'm not gonna give an exact location, but Saturday evening a friend of mine saw a bear, plain as day working his way through the woods, at first he thought a buck was on the hill thrashing trees then he saw that bear, about 6.5ft. tall when standing was pulling maple leaves off the trees and eating them. He slowly worked his way on by. The neat part is that this happened with a 1/4 mile of the Hamilton County line and not too many miles from my house. I'd like to see the populations grow where there are more hunting opportunities in counties other than those currently open for bear harvest. Thought I'd share, wish I had the pics!

I saw a big boar with two green tags in it's ear, it was crossing the river to sale creek from grasshopper camp ground during the middle of August.

Word is that they turned 8 bears loose near the house (Sherwood, TN) about 5 years ago. I've heard of a couple of sightings around here, but never have seen any sign myself. I did see some sign (tracks and a shredded log) on Skyline Management area back in the late 90's. I'd love to see them get started myself. Wouldn't really want to harvest one, but I'd like to watch them.

There has been bears seen on signal mtn for a few years now. I have witnessed a sall and two cubs playing RIGHT behind a home in Carriage Hills in/on signal mtn. That isnt close to Hamilton county .....it is smack dab in the middle.Yes it was very exciting, I must admit your buddy probobly hesatated to even tell anyone like me.......Coming to a home near you soon lol

That is pretty cool, Allison2002, your sighting is about a mile south of me in Sale Creek. emoThumbsup I'll keep a look out and take more notice now when the dog barks, might be more than just a deer!

My brother lives on the south end of lookout mtn, and they've seen tracks around his house, and this past spring the game wardens paid them a visit to ask about people poaching the bears on his property. They told my brother they have been having problems with bear poachers in his area.
