Beetlespin and I river 9/4

we went to the river yesterday for some goofin around. Not very much water moving at all and the fish were asleep i think. we picked around and caught a few dinks here and there. about Noon more water started flowing and we got a few better fish. I caught 2 spots in the 2.5 -30 range and Beetlespin got one LM about 5-5.5. I also caught on smallie that was close to measuring, was at least fun to catch.

our best 5 would have gone around 14 lbs i guess.

we fished jigs on a variety of cover and structure with no real pattern established. We even tried cranking for a bit to no avail.

yes the river park . we put in about 6:45 fished until 4:00

I think those two big spots were more like 1.5-2.0 lbs and the largemouth I caught is still growing. Right now he is about 8.5lbs but by friday he will be 10+. That might be one of the most expensive trips i have ever taken. I expect someone new to lose a few of my jigs but not someone that probably has 200 with them in their own tackle bag. I had to order supplies to make 200 new jigs this morning since you helped empty my box yesterday! Maybe you can give me some of those superior chunks you caught those big spots on to make up the difference!

Seems my spots are shrinking and your LM is growing. tomorrow my spots will be dinks and your LM 13 lbs! to bad you did as usual and caught a hog on practice day and not in the tournament.

Leaving it on the practice field again!

Actually those were two of the nicest tn river spots I have seen this year and they were as big as you said. That second one was close to 18 inches long.

Good report guys, keep them coming. FishinVol had a camera on our trip but when he caught his biggest at 3 lbs I asked him if he wanted a photo and he said let's wait till we get one bigger.emoDoh Didn't happen for him and when I got mine at 3.5 lbs I just didn't think about it.emoRolleyes I like the pics also but it is a little of a hassel to try and not have anything in the background to give the spot away and with my ugly face,...well...need I say more?emoLaughJmax

What you do is stand on your deck and shoot the camera from a low angle so you get the sky in the background. You may have to adjust for backlight, but that would eliminate the secret hole giveaway problem.

DK you got a good point there. I may have to figure that out and start posting pictures more often of bass I catch and I could put it on some of these guys places that take my money on Thursday night like Churley and Cory.emoLaugh Boy, now that would be dirty pool. They go out and find about twenty guys sitting on their spots.emoBigsmile Jmax
