Started fishing about 10:30 a.m. with artificials, only caught a few spots and 1 small Smallmouth. They started pushing water about 12 or 1, I got some yellowtails, made a few drifts but didnt get bit. I went down river a mile or two, fished in the current around the barge tie offs and started catching good Smallies. I had 4 keepers between 18 and 20 inches, 2 between 17 and 17 3/4, about 5-6 more that were 13-16 inches and 3-4 decent Spots. All these fish were schooled in about a 20-30 yard stretch. Best day for Smallmouth that I have had there yet. No largemouth. All fish were released.

Hey flip, how deep was the water you were in? Was it in the 20ish feet area? I marked lots of fish in that area a couple of weeks ago with none to cooperate.

Good job Flip. Was the yellowtails all that the smallies would hit? Fished down there during the winter but have never tried it during the summer.

After I got the bait and the current was rolling pretty good, I didnt try anything else. Jerdog this school was in 15-17 foot of water. I'm sure they were there because of the current, it was fairly strong.

Went back today ( Sunday), there was suppose to be 2 generators running all day, according to the schedule. There was 1 running, and it wasnt putting out much. Water was way down, I only caught 1 decent size fish, a 16" largemouth that hit a c-rigged centipede, char./pepper, and 5-6 small Spots. With the water so far down I could see the big rocks that I hit before. They are about 30-40 feet straight out from the end of the wall at the lock. Some of them were less than 2 foot under the surface with the water this low, you dont want to run across there with the big motor, I destroyed a prop right there back in the winter.
