Fished below chickamauga dam for 3 hours today (10-1pm) and caught 5 nice smallmouth (14, 14, 14, 13, 12"), one 13" largemouth/spot, 1 bluegill, 3 little stripe, and a sunburn! All fish were caught trolling crankbaits in 10-15ft. of water. Water temp. was 85F. The smallmouth really started to bite when the wind picked up and there was a chop on the water later in the morning.

Trolling at high noon... and catching brown fish. That's cool...

You and your trolling. I still can't see how anyone can do that in the river and be so productive. You must have the expertise to make it work. Any particular areas that seemed to be best? I just don't know the river well but I would like to get some more experience there and to learn to fish it more productively. Fast moving water has never been my forte.

I used a variety of lures. Mostly on a Berkly Frenzy in TN shad color. When trolling, I have found that changing speed is critical. You need to mix it up a bit by speeding it up then slowing it down. You cover so much water and can find stretches in the river of some great fishing. DHaun and I wore quite a few fish out last year and now is the time for it. I still have my days where I don't do well but I have more good than bad days.
