Tater and I went with high hopes of a great day of catching stripers/hybrids. Not to be for us. We didnt catch any, but we did catch some big drum and some cats, had alot of fun with those drum, they really pull hard. Tater left about 10:30 I guess and as he got out of the boat there was NRG coming down the ramp, he got in and we started where Tater and I left off. Lots of drum some cats and a few white bass too. It was a nice warm day and the company was good as well as the fishing. There wasnt many stripers caught today I dont think. BFG, his clients and his brother in law caught some, but they also said it was a slow day for them.

Thanks for the report flip. That's how it has been in my experience...they are either there turned on or not. I think I read years ago that a striper can swim up to 50 miles in a day...I'm not sure if there is any truth to that as my memory is not all that great but if it is true than that means a whole bunch can be swimming upstream and arriving anytime now!

Here is one of the big drum that Flip caught during the day. I think this is one of the bigger ones, but he caught 4-5 drum while I fished with him.

Thanks again Flip for letting me weigh down the back of your boat. We will have to d it again some time!!!!

I'll bet between me and NRG, after Tater left, we caught at least 25 like that. There was shad everywhere and the drum were too. We were watching big drum just scooting along the walls and scarfing shad down. Towards the end of our day we tied on a spoon and almost every cast you would get a big drum, cat and alot of times the shad that were so thick in there would get on your spoon. I have never seen so many drum like that. Do they have a rut? It was fun, but I actually got tired of catching them. That would have been a perfect time to have a youngster with you. They couldnt get bored.
