Left work around 10:30 yesterday to take an early lunch and possibly get into some big brown ones. Got in the water around 11:00 and headed south. First stop right below the ramp on the third cast caught one 17 1/2 inches long. Did not weigh it but probably around 2 1/2 to 3 lbs. range. Fished probably about another 15 mins. with no more takers so I headed on down south. On the way down ran into 2jigs and clint (sorry clint do not know your screen name). After talking with them shortly I kept going south. Stopped on a stretch of rip rap that usually produces fish and began to parallel the bank casting in front of the boat as tight to the rip rap as I could get. In that stretch I caught 9 fish with all but two being keepers. After heading on down I found my way to the new dock walls along Rosses Landing. The first section only yeilded one fish and he was way short.Came off a small splatter back crank bait in chart. color. As I made my way down the wall Picked up an nice 3 lb.LM behind one of the breaks in the wall. After continueing on down the wall and not catching anything else I decided to head further south. Stopped at a barge tie up and picked up 3 spots their all being keepers. These fish were caught on a pig n jig. I got to the end of the tie ups and picked up another brown fish that was 17" long and about 2 lbs. After leaving there made my way down past the bend towards Baylor School. Fished another section that usually produces fish and it did not prove wrong. Caught two spots pretty quick in the 12" - 14" range and then stuck another brown fish that was 17 3/4 long and fat as a football probably 3 1/2 - 4 lbs. Soon after that got a nice 4 to 5 lbs. LM off a down tree. The LM was caught on a jig. After fishing that stretch it had started raining pretty steady so I thought I would get bak closer to the ramp. Countinued to fish til around 6:30 with very little action. You would think that the rain would help turn them on even more but actually seemed to have turned them off. Needless to say I never made back to work from lunch but man did I have a blast. Also, lost a cell phone due to getting wet ( if anyone is trying to call I am going to get a new one at lunch ). Over all great day on the River. By the way with the exception of the fish that came off the crankbait and the jig all other and the majority were caught on a black and gold wobble headed spinnerbait.
