After seeing all the good Striper reports there I had to try. DHaun hooked me up several jig/shad body combos a few nights back to throw, but just my luck, I couldnt get them to bite. I caught another pretty big Drum, some Whites and several Spots. It was a beautiful day to be on the water too. Good to see LiveLiner again, did you get bit?

I saw folks catching the heck out of Crappie around the riprap on minnows, they wouldnt bite artificials for me.

Flip it sounds like you are having one of my days..... Everyone catching but me. emoLaugh Still a good day out tho. Glad you had fun.. Thanks for the report

We fished very hard and long for the rockfish. Not One hit. We watched all other fishermen and no one got any hits.

How did you like that fog? The only way I could find the dam was by watching my GPS track lines from last Wednesday.

We brought home Forty(40) big fat Skipjack Herring.

Good to see you again Flip,

Went today...11-26.... and also brought home 40 skipjacks. No luck on the stripers. I dont know how to fish for them. When we got back to the ramp the police were there investigating several car break ins. BEWARE!!!! I have never had any trouble with that up there but there were about 3 or 4 cars broken into today.

Sorry that you didn't get into any stripers, Flip. What time did you get started? How many boats were up there doing what you were doing? Were any boats running through the fish?

There haven't been any great numbers up there yet, but there have been several good fish that can be caught. Hopefully, you can get into those big guys before the water temp gets too cold.emoGeezer

what are you guys catching the skipkacks on? When I was there saturday we couldnt seem to catch any skipjacks. What drift were you making when you caught the skipjacks?

DK, I got there early, it was very foggy. My first time below WB and with me not being familiar with the area and how the water acts and not being able to see 20 foot, I didnt get too close in. I saw LiveLiner and he told me to follow him up to the boils. There were about 3-4 boats drifting, one was running through the drift quite a bit with their big motor. I didnt see any Stripers busting or any caught. I'm going to get back up there ASAP though.

By the way, when I took out Saturday I also saw glass in the parking lot from a side window of a vehicle. Is there any other ramps around there besides Meigs Co.?

I drove up there Friday afternoon just to see if I could find the ramp. The place was packed out!! There wasn't anywhere to park at all. I talked to a few [people and they all said the same thing" not even a bite" and they all said there were just too many people running through the fish.

Flip, I don't know of any more ramps near the one in Meigs Co. I'm sorry to hear about the breakins up there. I haven't seen any broken glass up there before, so this is not good news for me. Looks like with all the traffic up there that it would be pretty safe to leave the vehicle.

With the holiday weekend, the fish probably have been run over so much that they just have lockjaw. If you could make it through the week some time, you might have better luck. I'm not going to be able to get back up there until mid December if the water temp hasn't fallen too much.emoGeezer

Not until mid December Drumking, I might have a chance for some stripers now, seems you always had them in the boat when we got there around 7:00 am, what is your avarage start time?

The old saying that the early bird gets the worm holds true for stripers too, Tileman. A huge percentage of the time, first light is usually hottest for the stripers. When it is just light enough to barely see your fishing line is usually the best time of the day for me. However, I rarely stay too long to accurately say what happens in the PM. I have stayed as long as noon or 1:00 PM before and the stripers seem to come in waves with periods of inactivity in between times. Sometimes I will go 1-2 hours without a bite, then suddenly, catch several more on consecutive drifts. Move around and just know that these fish are gonna feed again soon. They are pigs!emoBigsmile emoGeezer
