Hey guys, most of you know i'm clueless when it comes to fishing the current close to the dam. Whats the best artificial bait to use and what rigging would you suggest? I just tyed on a 1oz jig tonight and worked for several striper but no LM/SM...i've tried using a shiner, grubs, flies and a plastic shad swimbait. I usually find myself casting opposite the current and then in no time my bait is carried down river towards everyone else and I have to reel it in real quick to avoid getting in other people's fishing lanes.

Oh and the striper were caught down river where there wasn't really a current and I was able to use a slow jigging presentation. Can't ever seem to get strikes off faster presentations, and I have never caught a LM on a spinnerbait emoBang

I'm not an expert at fishing current, but down by the dam in deeper water you might try a deep diving crankbait.  It should give you a little more control about manuvering into the strike zone.  I have also caught fish in a current using a top water presentation like a buzz bait, not sure why, but a buzz bait seems to work really good in current.  Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

You have to present the bait natrual which is the bait going with the current. I've never caught anything swimming the bait against the current. Try those blue fox spinners and spoons. Boat Control!
