Best bet for big catfish?

Hi Folks,

I'm new to the Forum and new to fishing in east TN. I sure would appreciate any insights as to my best bet for boating a big blue cat (Watts Bar tailrace, Ft Loudon lake, etc.) . Don't worry, I promise to return them all to their underwater home.

Thanks in advance for any catfishing insights for a newbie to east TN.

Most of us fish a bit further downstream from you and do pretty well. I would find humps and drop offs in deep water and use big baits.

I would listen to these guys they know what they are talking about..
I would also try the seams between the fast water and the calm water below the dam,,Look for eddy pockets as well as anything that breaks the current and fish in the eddy area,"ambush points"..
fresh cut bait and big circle hooks and about 30lb test, chicken breats works if you cant find fresh cut..
