I was curious as to what bait some of you guys and gals have had success with on a c-rig as far as catching quality fish. I generally use some sort of creature bait and although I occasionally stick a good one, it's slicksville for the most part. For those that fish the local Tx's and are hesitant to reply, I'm not looking for specific brands or colors, just the style that is most productive on the Chick for keepers.

I like to use the new Tru-tungsten weight along with 2 glass and 1 or 2 brass beads. I've also been using that new Carolina rig stopper instead of a swivel. I like to use lizards and they almost always seem to be Zoom pumpkin/ Chartreuse. I have caught a ton on other baits too, but for some reason I keep using the zooms.

I cannot catch skipjack out of my freezer with a c-rig. Just me but I have never done any good using a c-rig or lizards for that matter.

Use a t-rig chigger craw or a pig n jig.

Any dark color Pacca crawl, and Zoom pumpkin firetail lizards have been somewhat successful for me lately. By the way, any place around here to by pacca crawls besides Tail and Fins?emoScratch

Soddy Custom Tackle has 1/2 a wall full.

The best lure that I have used when using a C-rig has been a 6-7" Trick Worm. For the first part of the time that I used "Rigosaurus" I used a Gambler Sweebo Worm, and I was cranking out 3-5 lbs. bass. Lately, though, I have switched over to a Zoom Centipede. The 3rd bass I caught using the Zoom Centipede was 3 lbs.

I honestly have tried creature baits and I have never gotten a bite using them. I have wanted to try a fluke, but when I get around to it, I usually fish other techniques that produce better.

After reading Peter T's "Day on the Lake" in the latest issue of Bassmaster, I gave them a try. Although I caught one around 3lbs on watermelon/red flake, most were short fish.

I throw the c-rig alot and i catch more quality fish on zoom ole monster worms and I have caught some of my biggest fish on the rig using a senko. Like fishing magician said the c-rig is really more of a numbers bait.

I've had success with 7" trick worms, c-rigged. I haven't had a lot of success with creature baits but I haven't fished them a lot either. I still prefer the typical glass bead and brass weight rig with a swivel.

Another rig I am beginning to use more off points and humps is the doodle rig. It's produced when fish are lockjawed. Peg a glass bead just above the bait, usually a 5 to 6 inch finesse worm, with a brass weight above it. It produces the click and gives the worm a more natural movement like the c-rig. Seems to work best with short hops.

I've caught large bass and small bass off both rigs. But for consistantly catching quality bass, a spinnerbait has worked the best for me. Not as many numbers, but almost always a keeper.

If you want to catch quality fish don't throw a C rig. They are fun because they produce numbers but rarely any good ones come on them.

Something that I do that most don't like to do is I fish it really slow, just at a turtle craw but it seems that's what gets them to bite

my best baits for a c-rig has been a watermelon- chart. tail lizard...and unlike most people..i do catch a lot of quality fish on a c-rig.....another bait i have alot of success on is a bright chart. fry made by bass assassin...i show it to alot of people when they ask " what did i catch my fish on?"...they think im joking...but i do catch alot of fish on it....this year...biggest on it has been a 5lb. 7oz lm
