Finally... I can post a decent fishing report!!
Launched at Wofltever around 7:15 this morning and headed down river to a shallow flat in hopes of a little top water action. Nothing on top, but boated a nice 2.5# smallmouth and missed two other big bites on a blk/blue jig. Headed back up river to find some grass but the fish wouldn't cooperate. It was already 11:00 and my plan was to head home at noon so I decided to try a roadbed before I called it quits. Wow! Good decision as I spent the next two hours slaying bass and what I think was skipjack??? on a jigging spoon. First time I ever caught anything on a spoon... probably more than 25 lm bass and about that many yellow bellied stripe. At one point, three cruisers were stopped watching the fish jump in my boat and two other bass boats had worked their way into the area, I guess to help me. It was an absolutely great 2 hrs and kind of made up for several recent trips that were not successful and a wonderful way to spend a beautiful morning.
And for a bonus, I met fellow CFFer Fish Hawk at the ramp both coming and going. Oh yeah, I forgot my phone so nobody could bug me, but I also couldn't take any pictures. All the bass seemed to be from the same litter as they all were between 2 & 2.5#, but Oh what a mess of fish. The water temp was 79 and clear enough to see four bass trying to take that spoon out their brothers mouth at 6 or 7 ft.
One last note...Thanks to Dhaun and Mr. Whiskers for inspiring me to throw a freakin spoon.
Have a good everybody and I hope your team wins...unless you're a dawg fan. Oops. AlemoLaugh
