Where is the best place to have a 1998 225hp Mercury Optimax worked on in the Chattanooga area. I know that nobody's cheap, but i dont exactly want to be raped when i get it worked on. any suggestions?

When you say Optimax, you can exclude me........ I have heard toooooo many horror stories on them.Tooo much to go wrong on them.

I am not for sure who around Chattanooga would be best and depends on why type of repair is needed. If it is a blown engine, make sure that they are going to send off the injectors to be cleaned and ECU to be tested is included in the repair. Too many times places will repair the damage and not what caused it. I will work on EFI engines and I send the injectors off to have them cleaned and flow tested. The ECU works differently on a EFI and problems are obvious compared to a Optimax computer so there is no need to send it off. For the most part they either work or they don't.

I`ll have to give +1 for the BUNCH bunch....very reasonable on their work too !

The big guy's got it right. The Bunch guys do things right the first time, every time. Won't find a nicer group of folks to do business with. Even Ole Rob is a pretty good feller. LOL!!

Add me to the Fan list of Bunch Marine
They did a great job on my Optimax, discussed everything before hand, and were very reasonable on their prices.

They have all my business now

I agree 100% with wrechin2 on repairing a blowed optimax engine. Without knowing the cause, repairs would be waste of time and money. Most two stroke failures are from leaning a cylinder out or overheating the engine. It has been my experience that having a bad ecu is about as likely as getting struck by lighting. In most instances the cause is a a bad injector or a short in the wiring harness on optimax engines.
