With the threat of 10-15 mph winds, cooperjd, his cousin and I decided that Pickwick might be a little too rough so we went to the local TWRA lake. Per my tradition, we were the first boat there and were fishing by 5:15 am. I think we could have slept in for a couple of hours as it turned out not to be a real EARLY bite. Things started around 6 with cooperjd's cousin catching one on a buzzbait, he put 3 in the boat before either one of us had a bite. I caught a few on a frog and lost a couple swimming a worm. The wind had picked up a little bit and I like to throw a SAMMY under these conditions, after a few hits, I got THE bite, all 7 lbs 12 oz of her, my personal best largemouth to date. After my heartrate slowed down and many pictures, we got back to fishing again and cooperjd's cousin proceeds to put a 4 lb 12 oz largemouth in the boat, this was his personal best largemouth as well. All together we caught 21 fish today on a cool, cloudy day after the storms moved through last night. I just LOVE fishing after a rain!!! I have attached a few pics, for everyone to salivate over!!!!!!!!! Carl

Seeing as this lake is west tennessee and probably none of yall have ever fished it, I'll give everyone the scoop!!! It is a REAL shallow lake, deepest i have found is 10 feet around the dam. I typically fish as far away from the dam as I can get, I have always done well out there in the summer time. All fish today caught in 3 foot of water or less, FA I'm not sure what color the sammy was, its clear with a blue back, probably my favorite one. Cooperjd and I are going to try it again in the morning, maybe I'll top the 7 lb 12 oz mark in the morning!!! Carl

Wow!! Another Hogzilla!!! Beautiful, healthy fish. Not like the flat bellies I've been catching lately.

Crazyboutbass....the lake is around 125 acres. Yeah I would have loved to have had this fish last weekend at the CFF tourney on G'ville. Let me tell you what a difference a day makes, Cooperjd and I went again this morning and only caught 5 fish and all little ones.

Hey Bprice.....could I interest you in a $15 lure!!!!

Goodgooglymoogly!!!emoWorthy The TWRA lakes can really produce! I have fished Lake Grahm and it is good one too! Nice fish!

Well burger and I fished Wilson tonight Carl, and we were talking about your ole Sammy. I'll probably be buying some pointers come spring time for prespawn fish on Guntersville... I'll have to fish it with 50 lb Big Game, and make sure I'm nowhere near rip rap or trees. I can just see that $20 Bill flying through the air.

Churly...I've always wondered how to spell goodgooglymoogly, now I know, what a classic song!!! You would have to mention Lake Graham, I work 5 minutes away from it, but I absolutely HATE it. I have fished it on many occassions with cooperjd and the wind has always blown 10-15 while I've been there and with all those stumps right under the water, I've got myself stuck on many of them. I wouldn't dare put my fiberglass boat in there!!

Bprice....I knew you would come around on the lucky craft baits emoBigsmile emoBigsmile

That was an absolutely great day. I only boated 5 of the fish, no big ones, the biggest probably around 2lbs. I broke 2 off, and caught all my fish on a white ghost shad. they would not touch my chugbug, but they wore out the lil cousin's buzzbait and carl's frog and sammy. you knew they were hungry that day when duncan (cousin) caught a buzzbait fish on a backlash... for the slow.. he caught the fish on a falling buzzbait...

carl and i have spent many hours on good ole' whiteville lake, my personal best fish came out of there on mothers day a 5lb 9oz on a fluke. its kinda funny to see the TR-19 in there though, the entire lake is no wake, and carl usually has the most expensive boat out there among the jonboats w/trolling motors.

and the pictures don't quite do that fish justice. that fish was HUGE i tell ya. problem is, Tritoncarl's a pretty big boy too, so the fish don't look quite as big as it should. Here's a pic of duncans' fish, my little clone.
