12 foot pole? emoLaugh

I bet that car will have a nice "new car" fragrance to it. emoTongue

yeah maybe they caught while spider rigging from crappie..HAHA

Maybe it's a 12 foot surf rod. The length helps the 1-4 oz weight to get even further out there and a medium to soft action will limit the leverage the fish has on the angler. These rods also have beefy fighting handles. My next cat rod will be a surf rod if I decide to continue to fish from the bank.

in the paper they said they caught it using a bluegill,I didnot know that was legal

It is legal to use bream or any other legel game fish.

As long as:
You follow all regulations in catching the fish.
i.e. Legal bait, length limits, creel limits, ect.

I know alot of the big-time flathead catters use small smallmouth or large crappie for bait.

Spur, you keep up the foolish talk and them bassers 'n crappie fellers is gonna whup on you! (PM me for directions to Spur's house emoBigsmile ) I'd send HeathJ over, but he only uses his fingers for bait on them flatties!!!!!!!

Yeah Spur..you shouldnt be usin bream for bait...what a terrible terrible thing to do. Poor little things. I only use bass...5 lbs or bigger myself....doesnt seem to hurt em as bad!!! And yall thought I didnt bass fish!! emoAngel emoLaugh

My cousin catches big cats below Nickajack on a very regular basis. You know...kinda like if he doesn't catch a 50 pounder he's had a bad day. Anyway I've seen some of his over 80 and I don't believe this fish goes 80. Looks more like a 50 unless those two guys are over 6.5 tall. The cousin's personal best was an 88 blue and when he held it up he had it's mouth right under his chin and it's tail was touching the ground. He's around 5' 10". Nice fish though but I'd have to have seen it on the scales to believe it was 80.

Thats NO WHERE NEAR 80lbs.! I have caught fish that could eat the one and they are not 80lbs.

ps. Thank to the Idiots that killed a Big fish by throwing it in the trunk of a car and hawling it all the way across downtown... Just so they could get a PICTURE with it! If your not going to Eat the fish, you still need to have some respect for it.

Nope, not 80, but a very good fish and I can see why they are proud of it! I did not see where they wasted the fish - did I miss it or was that someone's assumption? By the way - for comparison, that's an 84 in my avatar, and I'm 6'1".

Why would someone want to eat the Big OLD Catfish.... the sign below the Dam said says that Pregnant Women and Older People should not eat more ONE FISH a MONTH..... Other people should eat fish sparingly..... Sooooooo How many fish does that One Big Fish equal?
