I was out at daylight Sunday morning. Caught my first fish at 9:10 am.
It was 12 lbs. Sat there until 11:20 before the next bite. It was worth the waite, after 30 min. of fighting, I hauled in a 45 lb. blue. I would like to say thanks to the three men fishing in the flatbottom boat. One of them climbed in my pantoon boat and helped me land this fish. ( and also took my pictures of them for me ) Baitbucket will post them for me.

Here's the pic. Glad to see we could help by combing out all those tiny fish Friday night. Great fish.

it was in 58 ft. of water ( you know where I was at )
I have to say, I owe a lot to DRC, He taught me a lot about fishing for big cats. Thanks man.
I have picked up a lot from all of you guys on here that fish for cats. I appreciate the help from everyone.

A-ha! So that was where that big cat that I was after was hold up. Next time we are up there can I tie off to your boat?emoLaugh
That is a nice trophy cat.emoThumbsup

Incredible catch FM! I thought that might be you that pulled up just after we did that morning when I saw the pontoon...Looks like you stuck it out a bit longer than I did and was rewarded for it! We never fished that deep but marked tons of fish in the 40ft range...I jigged a spoon and dragged all the goods in front of them and then caught a cat on a 25ft hump. Maybe they were buffalo as we a saw a few jump...We also saw several paddlefish jump completely out of the water that morning. That was a cool sight!

Yep, I also marked ALOT of fish about 40- 45 feet deep in 50+ feet of water but was unable to get one to bite. They were big fish too. Nice fish.

OK...I've had enough of this!

Whos gonna take me to get a fish like this?! Eh? Huh?..

Sweet Cat Man!!!

There were all kinds of fish under my boat all morning ( big fish ) they just wouldn't hit. I had skipjack and chicken breast both out. If the water doesn't move, the fish don't bite. Sometimes you just have to hang in there a little longer. I was lucky.

HEY FISHING MACHINE, ANY TIME YOU NEED ANY HELP GETTING THOSE HUGE CAT'S IN THE BOAT LET ME KNOW. HAVEN'T DONE CATT'ING IN A WHILE. BUT THE WAY IT'S BEEN GOING FOR ME I AINT TOUCHED A FISH IN A WHILE.

The moving water was mentioned in this thread and that brought up a question that I have. Was it just me or is it normal to have to anchor on the down current side with your boat drifting upstream. Then when you put out your lines they drift with the current downstream in the same direction as your anchor. I was thinking that I was in Bizzaro-world out there.

The boat was moving upstream because the wind was blowing your boat more that the current was pulling it downstream. Your line was moving down because of the little current on the bottom that was pulling it. But your right, it was strange. The fishing is a lot better if your boat is being pulled downstream.
