BPrice, I agree, it is a shame the fish died.

It is a little hard to believe a fish that big could be caught on that light line. I fought one that would have gone in the 40 pound range for over 30 minutes on 10 pound test and my line was frayed and looked like it was melted together before it spit the hook at Nickajack. I did get to see the big flathead at the top of the water though. I was fishing for gills (bait) at the time I hung him.

I guess it's not impossible but I agree with fish, it's hard to beleive. 6 lb test ain't much. The boy deserves many pats on the back for pulling it off. Any idea how old it might be ?

That is a great story for that kid. I saw the pic last year at Sportsman's Warehouse. That's the first time I saw that his buddy threw rocks at it to get it to turn around.

However, if my future nephew, son, etc. ever catches one like that, it's going back in the water. Plenty of 40 lb fish out there but the 100 plus are just too rare in my opinion not to be returned to the water.

I fully believe that the fish is that big, and I fully believe that it was caught on 6# test line. They didn't say mono, fluoro..............or nylon. Hmmmmm. Just 6 lbs. test.
