flip1up - 12/9/2006 5:45 PM Hey Mooseknuckle, while Davo is off line, tell us who caught the fish and on what. ;) Good to meet ya.

<font color="#6600ff">yeah, Mooseknuckle,  go ahead and tell us.....BTW, MK, it was good to meet ya...come to find out that he knows all my kin folks over in Manchester.  We wont hold that against him though. He traveled a long way just to fish with Davo, aka the man with 62 fishing rods...and all on the boat...LOL

Nice fish Davo! When I grow up I want to be like you.

Congrats to all on the success. I would still be thawing out.

Man, sorry about that very interesting first post. My 1 year old kept hitting the keyboard and deleting everything. After the 3rd try I just gave up. Anyway, I got to meet and fish with a great guy, Mooseknuckle, who came all the way from Manchester just to have me not put him on any fish. We tried several areas but most were drops that we close to humps. Around 11 am or so, I caught the biggest fish of the TX, I set the hook and it didn't budge. I kept pulling and it didn't budge. I pulled some more and it didn't budge.......around this time I began to say "man, I bet I got a stupid drum". Sure enough, I got a stupid, bug eyed drum. He wouldn't even fit in the net. He hit a jig in around 12 feet of water. Around 2pm or so is when I caught the big bass. We were on a main lake hump, sitting in around 4 feet and just fan casting in every direction. Sometimes it would be 20 feet deep and others only 4, I believe the bass came from around 5-7 feet deep on a 1/2 oz pumpkin jig and craw. We only had 2 bites all day long........Man, it was a major suckfest. Anyway, I had a great time, got to meet someone new and won a few bucks........doesn't get much better (unless you add catching fish to the mix).

Hey guys, just now getting in from one of our family Christmas get togethers. It was great getting to meet everyone out there today. It's good to see a bunch of guys and girls get together and compete and still have a good time with each other. All the way from Manchester isn't all that far, being as I fish about half the time in Alabama anyway. Davo was at a major disadvantage today, he had to carry someone who hadn't been on the lake in 10 years, plus his trolling motor was smarter than us and wouldn't start until it warmed up. Guys ya'll would have been in real trouble if we hadn't spotted everyone 2.5 hours. Davo really enjoyed it, and as I said while fishing, you can't make 'em eat. I'll see you all again before long. If the date works out, I'll bring the better half (my big fish magnet).

Davo, I missed the size of your bass. I figure that most of the good ones will be on the main lake until it warms up in the spring. Nice drum however. I know what you mean about when you hook one of those things. They are pretty strong. I'm glad that you stayed warm.
