trying to do all my homework before buying a boat. Have looked at several pontoon with fish package and was wondering, some dealers say I can get buy with a 50 or 60 hp engine with what they call a big foot kit. Not knowing for sure whet they are talking about I would like ya'lls opinion. I know pontoons can get in some pretty shallow water and was wondering about depth clearance. I have 3 kids and a wife that will want to get out for some fun time is the main reason I'm thinking pontoon. Want a bass boat but may need to settle to keep "momma" happy. Thanks for the opinions,

A big foot kit is a larger , more heavy duty lower unit. It would be a lot stronger than the "standard" gear case and a good up grade considering how many people could fit on a pontoon and the stress that a lower unit would have. The larger lower can handle more stress without breaking. Hope this helps! emoToast emoToast
