I had two guide trips in Big South Fork this weekend. I enjoyed riding with Lynn and Clara on a great 4 hour ride through the Yellow Face area. It was a very techinical ride(steep and deep)with several new obstacles thrown in from all of the rain. I was also blessed with another family who despite life's road blocks keeps moving down the trail. My hat is off to a special cowgirl, Savannah.

As usual the Big South Fork was providing a flowery show. The rododendrun was still blooming along with Rose of Sharon, Butterfly weed, Black eyed Susanand Corn flowers.

I changed riding partners this weekend, due to a injury to my regular mount Hosquo. I got to ride a gaited mule(Purdy), to say the least an interesting mount. Gs4ever and I also spent some time sliding forgs over the matted pond weed in Dewey Burk pond late saturday afternoon.

what a great looking place to ride carl emoThumbsup its been my experience that most mules like that make a better mount on technical trails than most horses .
its a rougher ride but you cant make most mules do stupid stuff that would get the mule (or you for the most part) hurt.
its been way too many years since i have rode and your posts make me want jump back on and ride emoThumbsup

Actually, July is a gaited mule. Her dame was a Tennessee Walking Horse and July is a really smooth ride. She can do a fast running walk at the same speed as most other horses canter. I will add that her canter is very nice and collected althoughnot as nice as my favorite ride Hosquo.
