I was close to the Bear Trace / Paradise Cove area today bass fishing. A huge willow fly hatch going on that I believe was triggered by the good rainfall last night. Water temperature 83-85 degrees. Willow flies / Mayflies ( your choice ) all in the bushes and in the water. I noticed a few at first but when I made a bad cast in a bush I could see how thick they really were. I stirred them up good after that. Good topwater action as I caught several species including a smallmouth on a "Baby Bass" Tiny Torpedo. I noticed the birds hadn't got in on the action yet so still plenty in the trees and bushes. This is usually the first area I check for willow flies but I'm sure other areas are hatching now. I've caught some good bass in these areas after the bream the last couple of years. The hatches are all along many of the rocky banks in the area. I didn't check inside the sloughs as I was only out for a couple of hours because of storms.
