Well guys my partner and I were blessed to come away with the win at the 2014 Carhartt College Eastern B.A.S.S. Regional this weekend!! We started off by being bout number lucky 13 to blast off, but he first day was a grind the entire time, we lost our best fish of the day it being a 5lb+ fish less than 5 feet from the net and it shakes off. We managed our 5th keeper with less than an hour left before weigh in and we sat in 11th place with 11lbs 12oz and with the leaders having 16lbs 5oz so we knew we had some ground time make up if we were gonna win this thing!!
Day 2 starts out with me getting to Dayton to meet my partner but he wasn't there. After 18 missed calls from me he finally answers his phone he had overslept just a little bit and got the boat out on the water as they were calling our number to blast off. The fishing for day 2 was a completely different story! we went to our first spot of the morning and fished for about 10 minutes and made a run to where I caught the 5th keeper the day before and we were able to have around a 15lb limit within the first hour and we knew it was on! went to a spot we didn't hit in day 1 and the first 3 casts we make we catch 3 fish over 3lbs and were able to cull on of keepers to give us around 16lbs or so. I felt like we had enough to get top 5 and wasn't worried about until about 1:30 or so and I knew needed that one kicker to give us the win.
We are out on this ledge fishing and these guys were fishing a bank and rudely made a b line to cut us off from where we were fishing so we argued about it for a second but ended up just letting it go and kept on fishing. Well that other team ends up catching a keeper and after that both of them are back there at their live well messing with the fish my partner looks back at me says "man I wonder if they need some ice" and I was opposed to the idea after they were so rude to us but Lance gave them some ice to put in their live wells and we headed back to the spot we got our limit that morning. He looks jokingly says "I was hoping the fish gods would help us out since we just helped keep those fish alive for that team' why don't you try throwing at that point" so I throw my jig out there and had time to twitched my rod about 3 times and one nails it! I hollered for him to get the net after a she jumped a few times and gave us a heart attack trying to net her we got our kicker in the boat and I told him we just won the tournament!
We ended up having a 19lb 6oz limit day 2 with that last fish I caught weighing 5-11, that gave us a 2 day total of 31-2 and enough to give us the win! we now advance to the National Championship at the Chatuge Resevoir July 31-August 2nd! If anyone has any information on this lake it would be appreciated we will need all the help we can get! All of our fish were caught on Jenkos jigs just slowly dragging them on the bottom
