There was a bear hit on hwy 58 a few weeks back, and now news3 said a 250-300lb black bear was hit on Dayton blvd in redbank in front of the police station. I take it they have made they're way to Chattanooga, and have chosen to eat garbage in redbank. Can't wait to see what idiot decides to shoot one.

I can see a bear out 58. Theres still lots of wilderness out that way, but Dayton Blvd is a very busy road! I was really surprised to hear that story yesterday but with all the building going on, they have to go somewhere. Bears were here before us.

Bears are all over walden ridge. There will be an archery bear season in Hamilton Co. Starting this year because there ARE huntable populations in our area! I think its cool. In my 36 years of life I have seen bears, elk, and turkeys return to areas they havent been in years in my home state.

I think it's great too, but I have to say there are NOT numbers in Hamilton county to support a hunting season. I've run all over walden hunting for 15 yrs and have never seen or heard of bears on that mtn.

In Walden in the late 80's Earl Ayers and his daughter saw a bear in a tree in the woods behind their house. They quickly left the area because it seemed small and they were afraid it might be a cub and its mother might be nearby.

Up here in Kingston my buddy found some scat in a plant that was 20" higher than his deck. Didn't know what caused it and found a pile out in his yard where his dog was sniffing. His wife called him over and said the grill was moved on his porch. Sure as heck there was a greasy bear print on his deck where the bear was licking up grease droppings from his grill. Pretty wild...he is carrying his pistol with him when he works out in the yard.

I went Bear Hunting with my buddy last year in Sevier Co. and we treed 7 and bayed 2 in two days it was fun. One of the ones we harvested weighed 543 lbs. Personally though I don't want bears or hogs around here they will wipe the mast out in a hurry.
