What kind of blacklights does everyone prefer? I have 1 blaclight that I won in a charity tournament and it's just not cutting it. Well actually the blacklight in the thing doesn't come on at all and I've only used it twice. I don't have a ton of money to spend.

I would consider the new led blacklights. They do not supposedly attact bugs like the other ones. Also, there are some negative comments on
Stan Sloan customer service listed.

Wonder why an individual black light worn on the head like the little white lights hasnt been marketed? Seems like a good idea to me. If your watching your line or the end of the rod you would be able to see your flour. line. Am I all wet on this or what?

Maybe bugs would be a problem, but I have heard that the LED lights dont attract them, like said above.</p>

I'm using one of the small L.E.D. blacklights now. It does a pretty good job for such a little unit. However, they do attract bugs. I clean a thousand of em off after each trip. I was told recently that there is a clip-on L.E.D. blacklight for your cap. I haven't seen one though.

Wal-Mart is selling the clip on black lights for hats. $9.95. Has 3 LED's. I'm going to try mine out this Saturday night. I'll have my main 12v blacklight onboard though in case the hat light isn't enough.emoSmile

The hat light works pretty good as an auxillary to the big lights, also makes tying knots a lot easier. I also have Stan Sloans.

Soddy tackle also has the hat lights in stock, Wally world has been out of them lately.

Yep $20.00 @ Soddy custom T. I,ve had one for abot 6 weeks & they are OK if you could get one for $9.99 at Wally world. But if I had it to do over I'd keep my $20.00 bucks for somthing else (like Gas!). #1. Reason you have to leave them on all night to see your line & after one night they don't realy help you see enough to fish (just my opp.). You can get a set ,four batterys(enough) to put in your light twice @ Sportsmans Warehouse for around $4.00. But that can get old running back an forth for them. Reason# 2. I use my head light to dip the fish when I catch one & the black light can throw an older partner with not so good (color blind eye sight) off & make them knock the fish off with the dip net

You're right on about the battery expense 2jigs. I intend to use the clip on blacklight to tie my line and maybe supplement my main blacklight at times so it won't be on for very long. When I turn on a white light at night it tends to blind me for a few minutes and my eyes have to re-adjust, not to mention my partner. I use a small led lantern that I partially covered with black tape so the light only shines out the side of the boat. Works great for netting without shocking the pupils.

A friend of mine actually used a clip on for night fishing and he said it worked great. Of course he has good eyesight and has been known to stretch things a little! I also thought it might help me to decide if I wanted to buy a 12v LED blacklight like the Nite III's that are available. For $10 it's worth a try !
