I guess that I should address this to all of you very lucky folks who are fortunate enough to live in
Chattanooga. After driving through Chattanooga for at least 500 times, my wife and I decided to go to the Scenic City and spend a long weekend enjoying the sights. To say that we were "blown-away" is putting it mildly! We spent our three nights at the Sheraton Reed House in the downtown area; first class hotel, great staff and excellent service. The dining was excellent; from the obligatory Big River Brewing Company to Jet Stream on the north shore and finally at Tony's in the Bluff View area. We found the City Cafe on the final night and enjoyed late evening coffee and some totally sinful cake.
But the outstanding downtown area was just the start. On Friday, I accompanied my wife to Moccasin Bend Golf Club where she enjoyed a mid-day round; i'm not a golfer, but she's gone fishing enough with me that I thought that I owed her the trip. Saturday took us to Chickamauga National Military Park where we unloaded the bicycles and rode through the beautiful 8,000 acres for hours. On the way back downtown, I told Kay that we needed to go to the River Park below Chickamauga dam; I had heard too much on the Forum about this area to miss seeing it. Again, we were surprised by the outstanding job that Chattanooga has done developing such a fine public facility. We unloaded the bikes again and rode up to the dam to get a clear understanding of some of the Forum's fishing descriptions. We went back downtown and soon realized that the River Park extends along a trail back to the downtown area; can't wait to ride the entire route next time in Chattanooga.
We wrapped up our stay in your fantastic city with a early Sunday afternoon visit to the Chattanooga Market; another great place to shop, especially for fresh veggies.
It's not often that we've spent several days in any location and not been bored after a short time; not so with Chattanooga. Can't wait to come back and fish the river below Chickamauga, ride bikes on the River Park and check out some more great eating places!
