I don't know much about catfish, so can anyone tell from the picture if it is a blue or channel? I caught it on a finesse worm while bass fishing at Parksville. It measured 30" and I caught it on 8# test/spinning tackle. I don't know what it weighed. That thing worked me to death, though.

Awsome fighters, those channel cats are. That is why I like to chase them. The Blue cats are better eating than the Channels in my opinion.

Looks like a Channel from where I am sitting. If it has a bronze color it is not a blue. That would mean it could one of several different type cats. A blue will be a faded pail blue to light gray color. Channels will be slightly longer and leaner than the chunky blues. The channel cats pound for pound will out fight a Blue cat.

The profile, color and the fight defintely says channel cat. LL is right about the taste. Blues better, but channels fight much harder. emoGeezer

Thanks for the replies. By the way... Those Pflueger President spinning reels have excellent drag systems on them.

I use one myself because of the drag! It works great on 4 and 6 lb line and big fish! Good fishing!
