I took my fiberglass center console to fish saltwater in Louisiana last month. I had a great time catching redfish and black drum, but now I have a couple of places in the boat where a fish hook or anchor chain laid on the deck and there is a rust imprint in the white fiberglass. Does anyone have a method to remove rust stains? Thanks!

You might try some Lime-a-way or some sort of commode cleaner or if you can stand it some muriatic acid like you clean bricks with. Muriatic acid is potent and will burn your lungs out if you are in a confined space, water will nutralize it, use gloves and eye protection.

Been in saltwater in mine many times. Do not take along any metals that are not stainless. ASAP run your boat in freashwater to flush everything, If you do not have a "Saltwater" engine, the first thing to go in your engine if you do not flush it is the brass bushing in your water pump impeller. Most Saltwater engines have an inpeller with a carbon fiber type bushing.

Back on topic... I use Fast Orange hand cleaner on a damp sponge to get rust stains off and to preserve my high gloss finish.

I've always used a product called Bar Keepers Friend for the really tough spots. Most of the salt water forums I read have a lot of cleaning info and this product is always mentioned.
